Description
Saliva is a watery substance located in the mouth and secreted by the salivary glands. Human saliva is composed of 99.5% water, while the other 0.5% consists of electrolytes, mucus, glycoproteins, enzymes, and antibacterial compounds.

Function
Its function is to moisten food, and start the digestive breakdown of food and to lubricate the mouth.
