A Discussion On The Determination Of The Date Of The Historical Buddha

Based on the research done and found in the Attachment by Choong Mun-Keat, I took a mean from the three possible dates for the Buddha and these are based on his research, Tradition, and NASA for the events commemorated on Vesak.

Coincidentally the birth date is my birthday

Birth - 27th May 512 BCE
Enlightenment - 30th May 477 BCE
Parinibbana - 12th May 432 BCE

The article by Choong Mun-keat on the determination of the date of the historical Buddha is very useful. The analysis or argument is adequate in most essential elements of design and presentation. The issue is identified clearly and perceptively. The conclusion is generally persuasive.

I agree, the article gives a well rounded argument and doesn't jump to certainties as some may like, rather looking at the facts.
