Resentment is when we feel and associate others being responsible for our own misfortune, or lack of recognition, similar to being grassed up (phase about telling someone in authority about what someone has done); they are lying to save their own skin, and if they hadn't done that my life would be fine now, or good qualities or achievements being overlooked and not recognised. What these have in common is their past tense, it is always something that has happened that we resent, but what we are doing is carrying troubles with us that may have no relation to what we are doing, we are carrying hate and anger for others due to a perceived offence, but life is not like that life is not personal it is just life, we make it personal with the ego, and when thing don't go as planned our ego lashes out, which makes our lives and the lives of those around us less happy.
If we lived accepting things as they are, we would not have the same problems we would when we see things as personal. The same events could happen again but they wouldn't affect us in the same way, because we would move with events, instead of being moved by events.
Heaven and hell are with us all the time and it is our outlook which makes us exist in one or the other, not how good or bad others think we are, but how we actually are, resenting things just because that is how they are is pointless as they aren't going to change just because we don't like them.
Fear also plays a big part in this resentful feeling, as fear of what could happen may cause us to do things which make it happen, even though we tried to preventing it.
At the end of the day I may be right, I may be wrong, but I share this hoping I am one or the other.
