Just as the solid rock is not shaken by the storm,
even so the wise man is not affected by praise or blame.
even so the wise man is not affected by praise or blame.
Dhammapada Verse 81.
Wisdom is seeing life as it is, and accepting it as such, life is not personal, but we make it personal due to ignorance of how life is, ask yourselves this if you did not exist would the world carry on? I’m pretty sure it would as it does before anyone is born. The universe is as it is not because we are, but because it does, nothing will stop that not you, me, or anything we think.
Whoever overcomes this retched craving, so difficult to overcome,
from him sorrows fall away like water from a lotus leaf.
from him sorrows fall away like water from a lotus leaf.
Dhammapada Verse 336.
When we see things as they are, as not me, not mine, not personal, then our worries, and troubles fall away like the water on a lotus leaf, that is to say if we put down our burden then we can be free from the hardships we face, not literally, but they don’t affect us the same way, we become free from the mental afflictions brought about by hardship.
He who is meditative, stainless, and settled whose work is done, and is free from cankers,
having reached the highest goal - him I do call a holy man.
having reached the highest goal - him I do call a holy man.
Dhammapada, Verse 386.
Socrates said an unexamined life is not worth living and this is true, to find explore, to investigate, all of the facets of life, too know how, and why they happen then realise our part in life gives us great peace and ability to live in the present.
At the end of the day I may be right, I may be wrong, but I share this hoping I am one or the other.
At the end of the day I may be right, I may be wrong, but I share this hoping I am one or the other.
