In this way I learnt. During one season, the Fortunate One was dwelling near Savatthi in Jeta grove at Anathapindika's park. On that time the Fortunate One was instructing, rousing, inspiring, and gladdening the meditators with a talk on Dhamma, connected with Nibbana, and those mendicants, being receptive and attentive and concentrating all their minds, were intent on hearing the Dhamma.
Then, on seeing the significance, the Fortunate One, in regards to this, spoke this utterance of joy:
There is an unborn, unoriginated, uncreated, and unformed.
If there was not this unborn, this unoriginated, this uncreated, this unformed, escape from the world of the born, the originated, the created, the formed, would not be possible.
But since there is an unborn, unoriginated, uncreated, unformed, therefore is escape possible from the world of the born, the originated, the created, and the formed.
Then, on seeing the significance, the Fortunate One, in regards to this, spoke this utterance of joy:
